Ripe with a variety of flavors and styles, a trip into Baur’s is like taking a time capsule back to a time when the drinks were potent and the music is memorable and authentic. In fact, Baur’s is fast becoming well known and trusted among music aficionados and foodies alike.
“An intimate and unique music experience”
Curated by the non-profit Music Appreciation Society(M/A/S), musical programming boasts a diverse line up spanning jazz, chamber music, folk, roots and world artists playing largely “unplugged” sets. A labor of love for M/A/S and its growing roster of supporters – performances are booked well into November.
With a number of exciting upcoming events on the Listening Lounge schedule, fans of chamber music will have the opportunity to experience classical music in the private and historic salon at Baur’s. The night of music boasts an exquisite ensemble “Wind & Strings” featuring renowned viola player and Colorado Symphony member, Basil Vendryes, celebrated pianist Katie Mahan and multi-award winning Clarinetist – Alexander Bedenko on June 2nd. A treat for fans of classical and chamber music, this is a rare setting – with perfect natural sound – for such powerful performances is not to be missed.
Music lovers can also look forward to concerts with Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith, the “future of Jazz”, pianist Jason Moran performs two different shows, and the Cajun rhythms of Louisiana based The Revelers in the lounge this June (complete schedule listed below). As an added bonus, events at Baur’s start just after the dinner hour and tend to end well before midnight — allowing guests to take in a warm night of music without impacting Denver’s bustling weekly work schedule.
A classical setting, worthy of top-shelf music events, patrons can take in the old historical vibe, have a fine Bordeaux or craft cocktail, custom brewed Baur’s Kolsch beer and enjoy the up-close-and personal experience of impeccable live music and comfortable seating. Replete with its original 1880’s floors, ornate crown molding, theater capacity of 160 and a top of the line Steinway Grand Piano, Baur’s serves the appetites of both foodies and music lovers alike with proprietor Dory Ford and Executive Chef Robert Grant’s inspired “cordillera cuisine” and an acoustic environment to celebrate the art of authentic music. With rousing local support, a growing roster of Music Appreciation Society members and sponsors the non-profit continues to seek grants, members and sponsors who support bringing this caliber of music talent to Denver.
Ticket prices for music events range from $15-$40 with student and senior discounts, as well as priority seating for M/A/S members.
